Breed Info
Dogue de Bordeaux
The Dogue de Bordeaux, a majestic breed with a rich history, is known for its impressive size and strong build. Originally from France, this breed was developed to work alongside humans in various capacities, from guarding livestock to serving as loyal companions. Their calm demeanor and affectionate nature make them ideal family pets, especially for those with young children, as they are generally gentle and patient with kids. While not overly aggressive towards other dogs, they do appreciate having a well-defined role within the family pack.
These dogs possess a moderate energy level, meaning they enjoy playtime and exercise, but they are equally content lounging around the house with their loved ones. Regular walks and play sessions will keep their spirits high without overwhelming them. Grooming is relatively easy, requiring only monthly maintenance, although you may notice some shedding. This breed thrives on human companionship and forms strong bonds with their families, showing an unwavering loyalty that pet owners find incredibly endearing.
Trainability is on par with their affectionate nature; Dogue de Bordeaux dogs are intelligent and can learn commands with consistent and gentle guidance. They are eager to please their owners, which makes training a rewarding experience for both the dog and the trainer. If you're searching for a loving companion that brings joy to your family life, the Dogue de Bordeaux could be the perfect addition. Stop by Petland Dalton, Georgia, to learn more about this gentle giant and to see if they fit into your life.
