An ideal adorable little dog for lifestyle varieties, a popular designer dog breed at that. Malshi is as a result of a cross between purebred Maltese and Shih Zhu, which gives it the name Maltese Shih Zhu or Malshi, Malti-zu, Malt-tzu, Mal-shi, and Shih-tese. The perfect companion anyone could ask for. Discover more about our Malshi puppies for sale below!
The Malshi cross breed developed in the early 90s. Although the purebred originated from different countries, Maltese from the Mediterranean, and Shih Zhu from Asia, the Malshi dog breed originated in the United States and has gained so much popularity in Australia, North-America, and some others.
This fluffy cute dog was designed to be a minimum shedding breed. The Malshi hybrid turned out to be fearless, sturdy, small with a white silky coat, people-focused and thrives on affection.
Malshi has a loving and well-rounded temperament. They crave your love most of the time. Kids are their perfect playmates because they’re very energetic, playful and are fond of having fun. Being around elders, children, or any member of its family gives Malshi a certain degree of comfort.
They are intelligent and smart enough to pick up training. They act cool with other pets too. Malshis are practically wary of strangers, and they won’t take too long to notify their family of the presence of a visitor, and they’re quite vocal, this makes it a perfect watchdog.
Ideally, a yard is usually recommended for every dog to explore, but this isn’t necessary with this breed due to its small nature. They can live in any type of home because they’re mostly indoor pets. They are best owned by families, and it’s safe for them to be found at any corner of the house, including a small yard.
An air-conditioned room is also good for Malshi since it can sometimes suffer from respiratory problems, which could get worse in humidity and heat. Also, ensure that your yard is properly fenced before you can let them play outside.
This breed enjoys activities and exercise, and requires about 60minutes of activities each day, consisting of short walks or jogs, jumping, running, including mental exercise, because an intelligent breed like Malshi needs it, using dog toys like a puzzle is recommended.
They could also play other games and sometimes take trips to the dog park. Malshi has a tendency of getting bored easily, which isn’t good for their overall health and well-being, that is why you need to always engage them in any indoor or outdoor activity most times.
They require the same method of grooming with their parents because their hairs are long, silky and soft, some are wavy but shouldn’t be curly. They require daily brushing to prevent mats and tangles. Some owners clip to make grooming somewhat easier, but you still need to brush it at least weekly.
Regular bathing is necessary, they are prone to tear stains and could be treated with tear stain remover. Brush Malshis teeth at least twice a week to prevent tartar build-up, bad breath, bacteria lurk, and gum disease.
Trim their nails monthly, have a weekly ear check for bad odor and redness. Examine the paws frequently, check for sores, rashes, and inflammations to detect early signs of any health issue.
Our Malshi puppies for sale come from either USDA licensed commercial breeders or hobby breeders with no more than 5 breeding mothers. USDA licensed commercial breeders account for less than 20% of all breeders in the country.
The unregulated breeders who are selling outside of the USDA regulations and without a license are what we consider to be “Puppy Mills.” We are committed to offering Malshi puppies who will grow up to become important members of your family. We only purchase puppies from the very best sources, and we stand behind every puppy we sell.
Being the perfect companion for anyone, it can live up to approximately 12-15 years, and you’ll definitely wish for more because they make every year spent a memorable one for you.
Don’t forget that this is a toy dog breed, so you don’t need to expect your puppy to grow that much after 2 months of age, and they’re usually 7 inches tall and weigh 4 lbs. Both males and females have the same level of growth.
They require more calories as they grow, and it doesn’t require much food, but healthy and regular treats are necessary. Remember their dietary requirements change as they grow in size, age, and energy level.
This hybrid dog was bred with a solid goal of getting rid of the health issues present in their parents, but unfortunately, some health problems still exist in it like; white shaker syndrome, patellar luxation, and brachycephalic respiratory syndrome.
They’re a smaller breed when compared to your average dogs, with a head and body proportionate to each other, with bulgy eyes, long, straight or wavy coats that come in different mixed colors(white, black, grey, yellow, and brown).
This dog was bred for a specific purpose, which is to stop shedding. Malshis shedding is none to minimal, anyone on vacuum duties will absolutely prefer this breed.
They’re genuinely soft, loyal, loving and gentle. A good therapy dog because they enjoy spending time with their owners. They respond quickly to emotions.
Malshi barks occasionally and for certain reasons.
It requires 11-15 hours of sleep each day as an average dog.
This breed has a low drooling tendency and is the perfect choice for anyone who feels disgusted by the sight of it.
A highly adaptable and friendly dog, just be sure to give it your time and love and watch the happiness spread throughout your household.
